MicroPhysics Flying
Height Tester -
The MicroPhysics Flying Height Tester (FHT) uses a
new type of interferometry (patent-pending) to burst through the sub 10 nm
measurement barrier. No retract calibration removes the greatest cause of
error in industry-standard flying height measurements with much easier system
set-up.

MicroPhysics
Dynamic Protrusion Tester -
The MicroPhysics Dynamic Protrusion Tester (DPT) allows
measurement of slider deformation due to thermal controlled flying
height. Slider deformation is measured while flying on a
glass disk with one micron lateral resolution and sub-Angstrom
vertical resolution.
MicroPhysics
Tape Head Tester -
The
MicroPhysics Tape Head Tester (THT)
is
designed for high-speed electrical testing of magnetic tape heads in both
engineering and manufacturing environments. The THT uses a loop of magnetic tape
so that writing and read back can be accomplished quickly without the need to
rewind tape. Parametric tests include: Track Average Amplitude, PW-50,
Overwrite, MR and Write Current Saturation, Resolution, Time Asymmetry, and
Noise Tests. The THT can be customized for linear and helical technologies. New
for 2009 is a reel-to-reel configuration that allows testing with LTO cartridges
or reels.

MicroPhysics
Tape Spacing Analyzer-
The MicroPhysics Tape Spacing Analyzer (TSA)
is a flying-height tester for magnetic storage tape. The TSA
measures head/tape spacing using real magnetic tape and
transparent replica heads, or with real heads using transparent
media. Using the TSA, the tape surface can be characterized in
situ with head/tape contact effects.

MicroPhysics
SliderLab -
SliderLab
is a numerical simulation that integrates a graphical pre and post
processor with a finite element air bearing solver to allow simple
analysis of nominal flying-height and flying-height variation as a
function of various parameters.

MicroPhysics
TapeLabH -
TapeLabH
is an extension of TapeLab which allows modeling of the
helical head/tape interface including the drum with slots.

MicroPhysics
TapeLab -
TapeLab
is a finite
element numerical simulation of the head/tape interface. TapeLab
can model spacing, contact pressure, tape lapping, and wear.
